He just wants to hear people cheering for him.

Because a large portion of the country hates him.

His own party can barely stand him

And every day he's in the news for some dumb s*** he's done

So he needs to go get some rednecks to cheer at him for a few hours to heal his wounded ego.

He's displaying one of the characteristics a president should do, which is reaching out and speaking directly to the American people and going to deliver news that is especially important to the given community he's visiting.
"I think that man will be president right about the time when spaceships come down filled with dinosaurs in red capes" - Tom Hanks
He'd probably even visit California one day, but then some buildings or a town will be set on fire and the crooked media will blame it on Trump. "He shouldn't have come down here! He made them do it! He's divisive!"

One of the characteristics of a President is to run the executive branch and lead the nation.

Holding campaign style rallies during your term because you're unable to handle criticism for the s*** job you're doing does not constitute "leading"

You can't think of any other method to talk to people that's more efficient or fiscally responsible to deliver information to a large swath of people other than flying around to different communities and speaking to people personally?

It's different every time. He's been down at the border all day, so I'd imagine he'll be announcing new things to Arizona regarding immigration. I'm not sure what it will be, we'll have to wait and see. And, he's been holding these rallies since he was elected.

It's not like they are a new thing he has to suddenly fall back on because of his "ego". Nice try though.

Rallies are his safe place. One of the few areas he can go where he can see a crows of people healing his wittle ego :(
He's already behind in the 2020 election without even having an opponent yet. He has to start his campaign ASAP.

Honestly these rallies remind of the style of " leadership" you would see in a dictatorship. Its very different being in a crowd where everyone is cheering to sitting at home watching on TV. People are sheep, they feel like they're part of a group or team. Is why people do stupid stuff at protests they probably would never do in a one on one situation.

Everything Trump does is oppressive , and the only thing stopping him from being a full blown totalitarian is that you have had your freedom for far too long and your system of government.

He attacks media, is close minded and can't accept or even understand criticism , has a massive ego, hates being made to look weak, always wants to win no matter what or who he attacks, has no morals and has supporters that blindly follow him no matter what. Its happened time and time again throughout history.

His repeated attempts to discredit the media are the most worrying part of it tbh. It's dangerously close to lugenpresse

Lol no one said he was close to being one. There's no way anyone would allow him to exert the power he would want to. He certainly shares a lot of qualities with them though and anyone that denies that are either delusional Trump supporters or have no idea what a dictator is

Firstly Im in no bubble. Secondly I grew up in a oppressive regime, South Africa . My mother and father grew up in a Fascist country until 1974, Portugal. I know about Dictators and Racism and people dissapearing from their beds in the middle of the night. The fact that Trump supporters are blind to what is in front of their eyes is exactly how Dictators get into power. They are cheered and applauded and things change slowly, rules get changed, things you wouldn't accept before get accepted, excuses are made, generals surround the leader, people lie and blame each other, divide and conquer.

The USA is not a dictatorship but you certainly do have one in your house.

You guys are so stuck on left vs right. Its not feelings but experience. Im not even American and have no side. I only see what's in front of me and its worrying to see the USA in such turmoil.

If Trump could be a dictator he would, no doubt in my mind. I hope that your systems of checks and balances works, I believe it will.

this can go for almost any president tbh. You gotta wonder how many times Obama said "f*** this" when having to go through checks and balances whenever he tried to get something passed. If Trump could become a dictator he would, almost any man would but this coming to America is almost impossible. You gotta be special type of dense to believe that Dictatorship can even come close in the States

He needs a safe space to feel good about his failing presidency. It's hilarious how the crowd who makes fun of safe spaces and echo chambers blindly follows the one politician who completely embraces those concepts.

I agree that alot of leaders have the potential to become tyrants under the right conditions. Mugabe and Pinochet were both initially revered as great men and heroes and we know how they turned out.

You assume that I only get information from CE? I don't. You assume that I'm a Lefty Liberal, I'm not. I have a lot of views that could be considered conservative. Please stop focusing on me and what label you think I fall under and consider the points I made.

A final point from me, a quote from Pollard: The arrogance of success is to think that what you did yesterday will be sufficient for tomorrow.
