Plus it was an event organized by white supremacists and advertised with Nazi symbols. A "good person" just wanting the statue to stay would have had to be a real dunce to not see all the hints and leave. Or better yet just not go to begin with.

Would you, personally, ever confront one of these Neo Nazi crazies? Seems to me, that if a normal person thought these crazy Neo Nazi's was out of his mind, that they would avoid them for fear of them going off the rails and killing some-

I'm not advocating for them to march the streets unchallenged, but another opposing, radicalized group on the other side to challenge them certainly isn't the answer. That's like letting loose a couple of lions to take out a pack of wolves.

They wanted bloodshed. There was no way in hell someone wasn't going to leave that situation in a body bag.
Hell, we are very lucky that more people didn't even die thank god.
I guess there is no answer, anymore. You guys hate the police, so I guess you're going for a "we're the police now" sort of attitude.

I'm not trolling. I just wish an opposing view point around here - would, at the very least, be respected at some sort of value.

I admit Trump didn't do a good job in that press conference. He doesn't sympathize with Neo Nazi's for f***s sake. Listen, hate the guy on whatever policies you wish, or his attitude, or whatever. This is grasping at straws.

What makes you think there weren't decent people that left? And yet they are lumped together with Nazis. Furthermore, there was also infighting amongst the right during that rally, a lot of people didn't take to kindly to these Nazis destroying their protest and what they're actually protesting for.

I think there's definitely some of that "we hear what we want to believe" sort of atmosphere around this whole debacle. I personally interpreted Trump's words to include those people who had left. And as I said earlier, there was infighting amongst the protestors who didn't take kindly to Nazis destroying their message. Some stayed behind to peacefully get the Nazis that were in their ranks to leave because these Nazis don't represent them. But of course we lump them in together with the Nazis as well even though they stayed behind for a good cause. And that's who I believe Trump was referring to when he spoke of good people. Obviously he's not sayin some of the Nazis are good people because he explicitly condemned them

Well, the rally was organized by white supremacists, and there was non-violent protests organized by several local congregations. Yes, violent fringes were there, too.

And let's not pretend that there's no reason to be angry when white supremacists from all over the country come to your town, injure the police the day before the rally, get armed with the intention of violently protesting a decision made by democratically elected officials. I'm not gonna condone the violence but it's very disingenuous to take it out of its context.

All that these supposedly "good people" would have to do is walk away and denounce the event, saying it was hijacked by scum and co-opted to spread a message that was counter to what they believe. They didn't have to square off with the neo-Nazis, though it would have been awesome - they just had to abandon ship, condemn the event as being hijacked and state that their own views + the views of the "true" supporters were not represented by neo-Nazis.

Most people, if not all of them, chose to march alongside them instead. They had no problem throwing up Nazi salutes and being associated with swastika-bearing alt-right activists. That tells you everything you need to know about the "good people" who feel ashamed and frightened of what they did because the internet jammed a foot up their ass.
