So yeah. Also this "tolerant left" meme is extremely overdone and boring and you should be ashamed of yourself for not having moved past it by now.
It's not just a meme when almost half of liberal democrats are so insular that they can't be friends with someone who doesn't vote like they do.
Also, your anecdote about a Trump supporter you know who is also like that doesn't prove the statistics are wrong. It just means he's one of the 13% of petty Republicans.
If I were Russian I wouldnt be friends with someone who voted for Putin. If I were Turkish I wouldnt be friends with someone who voted for Erdogan. If I were Venezuelan I wouldnt be friends with somebody who voted for Maduro. I'm not friends with people who support authoritarianism and corruption, people not retaliating against political radicals by cutting ties is what allowed extremists like Mal Fet to go off the deep end purging RINOs and treading closer and closer to fascism for the last 20 yrs. I care about my country more than I care about being friends with Trumpistas.

Kind of dumb to drop friends over that. Regardless of who's the American president, relationships in society can still prevent a corrupt deviant from taking office again. You only achieve that by changing minds and increasing unity, not division...
We certainly have the tools to accomplish that with modern media, but look at how our masses drag their feet over petty social and political competitions. How some of us even fan the flames of discord for personal profit and hide behind corrupted banners of honorable agendas. Many of us are too prone to call for civil war rather than avoiding it. It should be no wonder how a reality TV clown managed to slip into office.

In seriousness, anecdotes are never proof of anything. I myself have been around very intolerant conservatives and most liberals I'm friends or acquaintances with are welcoming individuals. Some liberals may have been intolerant of certain ideas, but conservatives I've met have been intolerant of certain people. What you consider worse depends on your values, I guess. But again, that's an anecdote. You have every right to discard it.
As for myself, I can be friends with a Trump voter. But I don't know if I can be friends with a full-blown MAGA hat "Trump is always right, libcucks BTFO" type of person. So far that type of person is only online but if I ever met one if the wild, I can't promise I can be friendly lol

We'll my issues with the meme are more about the right bitching about the left for claiming to be tolerant when subgroups of them are not while I don't really see any tolerance preaching on either side. I'm not saying you're wrong. If more liberals had circumstances like I do with my neighbors, I'm sure they would have the same sort of feelings I do, provided said neighbors of theirs were like mine. They'd have to stick to their guns and wallow in hypocrisy or give said neighbors credit and admit they have no reason to dislike them after learning of their support of trump. Maybe some aren't willing to do the latter, and they are indeed a problem.
As for the anecdote, I will give you even more credit here. He is the type of person who would be in a petty minority. It's in his nature. I was not citing him as an attempt to discredit your statistic. If it is accurate, it is accurate. I want to say that historically, the victorious side is gracious in defeat, but I don't necessarily believe that would be the case if hillary had won. Granted I'm not a supporter of her. I voted for her as a vote against trump, but by no means did I feel she was a good candidate. She attracted an unruly crowd and another bad candidate took advantage of this by appealing to another unruly crowd. The crowd that lost is more pissed off than the crowd that won. This is to be expected. I'm a Patriots fan. I'd expect to get looks if I wore my hat in Atlanta. Would I have issues with someone wearing a Falcons hat in my neck of the woods? I'll answer that by saying I spent several minutes trying to remember which nfc team was in the super bowl because I'm too fucking stubborn to look it up >_>.

If politics affected a person's view of me then they were never my friend in the first place.

So why is 47% of people of the opposing ideology to Trump thinking that support of Trump would strain friendships a more interesting story than 25% of his own voterbase thinking the same?
Newsflash: Friendships generally form between like-minded people. I'm not going to say it's not petty to end friendship over political differences in general, but I also don't think its out of the ordinary that learning that a friend supports an ideology (or in this case, a person) you find abhorrent should make you view that person somewhat differently.
I find it ten times as damaging that one in four of Trump's voterbase thinks the same way.
