To be fair, even the ones who reported on his asking around about pardoning said that it seemed more like he was just curious about how things worked. But I wouldn't be surprised if he pardoned someone a little shadily.

The man is guilty as OJ Simpson, Casey Anthony and Jodi Arias. Only difference is that he isn't on trial for killing someone, and that he has power and is trying to exploit it. |

Burdick vs United States has been cited to indicate that accepting a pardon is admission of guilt.
So Trump pardoning himself/family members because it will "stop the waste of time" isn't going to work out well for him. Granted, it's not even clear if Trump can pardon anyone related to this anyway. Pardoning your family is legally fine, but pardoning people for their roles in a conspiracy with you has been argued to fall under the same category as pardoning yourself. |
