His party controls both the house and senate and he's been completely ineffective.
He was told who to pick for the Supreme Court and the pick only made it to the Supreme Court by stealing it. Twice. Trump has had the worst 6 months of any president... William Henry Harrison died 31 days into his Presidency and had a better 6 months.

D, he got most of his cabinet picks and a SC justice, there's been some deregulation stuff, but there has been very little advancement of his agenda, in large part due to the ineptness of Congress. Also he's made a buffoon of himself a lot, but that was to be expected.

Pulled out of Paris got $$ for Wall Appointed a conservative SCJ Increased budget for ICE increased deportations lower illegal immigration Repealed DAPA Opening up more land to drilling/mining (undoing Obama EOs) Cut budget of EPA by $530 million/3k layoffs (20% of what he wanted but he can't force Republicans and Dems on this issue) enacted travel restriction/ban. Lower refugee immigration. repealed gun control laws regarding SS recipients. Gave military more deference/latitude - i.e., using MOAB whereas Obama admin completely opposed. I am curious to see what he will do with Iran. There is considerable pressure from various sides to stick to the Iran deal saying that it would be unlawful to not rectify. I hope he pulls out though. I voted him a B due to not repealing DACA or not getting more out of it. He's also looking to cut legal immigration by 500k immigrants per year. US has lowest unemployment rate in years. Record high for stock market (which could very well be another bubble to be fair). He also did try to defund Planned Parenthood (which I don't necessarily agree with) but Congress said no.

C/D - He got off on the right foot with me by getting out of TPP and appointment Gorsuch but really hasn't done much of value since. Healthcare appears to be a dud and while I don't believe this is solely on Trump it does fall on his party for campaigning on it for 7 years then fucking failing to produce anything of value. I thought pulling out of the Paris Accords wasn't really the best decision politically since it was nonbinding but the libertarian in me thinks it is neat to see states/private companies say they're going to do those things anyway. Yes the economy is doing great right now but I don't know really how much Trump has to do with that (though I will concede the stock markets rocketed skyward after he got elected). He'll get improved marks from me if he can get Tax reform passed. A much more streamlined tax code is a must in my opinion.

I forgot about the travel ban, I guess I would move his grade up then to a D+. Even though it's still up in the air, I suppose that is an important achievement he can point to, especially if the revised ban in upheld in court.

Side note:
I have him an F. Not for any one thing in particular, but his overall performance, or lack thereof. He has been completely ineffective as a leader and has yet to actually accomplish anything of lasting importance legislatively sans Gorsuch and Gorsuch is an absolute disgrace to the SCOTUS. It is worth noting that there are a few things I actually wanted Trump to succeed on (congressional term limits, American protectionism among them) but he hasn't delivered anything but empty words. |
