Another radical sociology professor goes down for tweeting garbage.

The University of Tampa announced it has fired a professor who suggested in a tweet that Hurricane Harvey was "karma" for the state of Texas.

There is a way you can have dumb opinions and not get fired for it: don't say that s*** to the entire world on the internet. At least not under your real name. That's how people did it in the past--they'd save those conversations until their friends were over at their house, or they'd say the most idiotic stuff during private phone conversations with people that agreed with their insanity.

But now, you get on Facebook or Twitter with your real name and start shouting stupid stuff and embarrassing your employers? Too bad.

Im just for freedom of speech without the cost of your job. I disagree with you but it shouldnt affect your job.

Freedom of speech shouldn't allow you to be a terrible human being and say s*** like he did. Regardless of what people think, words do hurt and can really f*** some people up mentally and emotionally.

The fact he doesn't understand this and posted it anyways is mind boggling. The guy obviously has no self awareness.

Who gives a f***. You shouldn't be fired for s*** you say off the clock.

What kind of fascist country do you want where we tell people not to judge people for what they say? How would we even control that? You want people to give up their freedom of speech so others can speak with impunity.

You run a business and stand behind someone who says some incredibly insensitive s*** like that, then tell me how the backlash goes when the public literally disowns you. The University should not have to put up with the aftermath of his opinion. Businesses have literally gone under from that kind of publicity.

Why dont we just not have freedom of speech? Wouldnt it be better? So i literally couldnt object to this at all. I dont understand who actually wants it at this point.

Nope. I don't agree with it no matter who you are or what you say off the clock.

That's simply wrong. This is no different from a con/lib right-leaning person being fired for saying there are two genders, or that Ghostbusters 2016 is a terrible movie, or criticizing BLM.

Free Speech should be extended to everyone.

You run a business and stand behind someone who says some incredibly insensitive s*** like that

So, you should lose your job because you hurt someone's feelings. Okay.

No different from the SJW's and "snowflakes" this board derides so much.

So if I know you chant "Death to the Jews" off the clock, I should be forced to continue my association with you? What about my freedom?

None of those are telling people that they deserve a natural disaster.

If you do not see a difference between "Ghostbusters was a terrible movie" and "the people suffering in Texas deserve it because they voted for Trump," then your brain is f***ing broken.
