Why is it that Trump's one constant political position is his praise for Putin?

And Russia in general?

Like he waffles around on every other policy position

"There will be a big beautiful wall/maybe there won't be a wall/maybe we'll build a fence/the wall was a metaphor"

"Arm the teachers and add more conceal and carry/take peoples guns away without due process"

"big banks are taking advantage of the little guy/i'm filling my cabinet with bankers and gutting bank regulations"

But when it comes to Putin or Russia it's always consistently "they're some swell folks. we don't need sanctions on them" or some weird level of whataboutism like "well America is bad too"

it's just weird

Why didn't he care when Putin threatened Florida? I mean i know it's Florida, but still.

is this like a tick for liberals.

They have to say R U S S I A every 10 seconds or they explode

Because Trump is dumb so he doesn't have fully formed political opinions on most things except things that personally bother him (tariffs) or benefit him (Putin).

it's just weird

What's weird, or more precisely what's going to look weird, is Putin's hand after he takes it out of his meat puppet's ass.

It actually wouldn't really surprise me if this was the rationale behind it at this point.

Russia doesn't need to be "the enemy" in all honesty. Right now though, I think it's a case of Putin just laughing his ass off in the Kremlin while America cannibalizes itself.

They don't "need" to be anything, but they put themselves in that spotlight every single day.

He admires Putin way too much even if they had never been in contact prior to Trump’s election.

With all this Russia hysteria on the left I really hope that if a Dem manages to win in 2020, they are much less of a warhawk than Hydrogen Hillary.

This is always the instant giveaway someone doesn't actually pay attention to anything beyond the CNN homepage.

It's not like Russia assassinated someone on foreign soil less than a week ago, silly leftists!
russia could literally send agents to undermine the authority in neighboring countries in an attempt to take it over and conservatives wouldn't even take notice because take that liberals

oh wait

Well, attempted assassination, and it was more than a week ago.

Anyway I definitely think what they did (with almost certain probability) is bullshit but we gotta stick to the facts...

He was a spy... You're telling me America never does stuff like that? That's still not a very nice thing to do, but pales in comparison to things like toppling Libya and Iraq, paving the way for massive crises as a result.

You're also... missing some pretty shitty implications here, like the guy had already been convicted and was part of a spy swap, so unless he was still actively spying (doubtful), they literally killed someone they traded in a diplomatic exchange. Also the fact that they poisoned his daughter. And... you know, other people as collateral.

What blows my mind is there's really strong, clear, simple evidence surrounding the circumstances of this shit and people try to put a spin on it. It's not that difficult?

I'd be willing to believe that there was no collusion

if not for trump's behavior and the fact that almost every person in his administration has some weird inexplicable connection with an oligarch in russia

Collateral damage? US govt wouldn’t know anything about that.
