Her entire life's ambitions came crumbling down in front of her and she knows she's never going to get another chance. All her favors were cashed in. The Saudi money dried up pretty much the moment she lost. She has nothing left except Bill, and she probably secretly hates him but has put up with it all this time for her career. Retiring means admitting your ambitions failed and your dreams are shattered forever. It would break anyone.

While she is a stupid bitch, this is a somewhat true statement. She wouldn't have gotten white female vote anyway but still, I know many white women who change to republican when married or change to democrat when they divorce. Most of my white female friends changed often depending on who they were dating. My secretary was a republican for 20 years because her husband was a government accountant for the local party.
It's not the end of the world, but we can see it from here.
