- Trump Administration announces SANCTIONS on Russians for election meddling
https://www.cnn.com/2018/03/15/politics/russia-sanctions-trump-yevgeniy-viktorovich-prigozhin/index.html
So even the Trump administration had to admit Russians meddled in the elections. So, clearly the Russians wanted Trump to become president. Why? Conservatives, speak up! |

Do people really give a shit about this Russian crap? Another power used its influence and meddled in our election so they could get their candidate to win...not in good will but because they knew it would benefit them and help them get stronger...why should you not even be a little bit concerned about that?

https://www.cnn.com/2018/03/15/politics/russia-sanctions-trump-yevgeniy-viktorovich-prigozhin/index.html Russian bots bought more ads for Clinton, and Russian hackers tried to hack the RNC, but failed because Republicans understand bare-essential, dirt-basic email security.

Someone has to clear something up. The guy up there says Russia wanted Trump to avoid war with Hillary. Now you're saying Russia wanted Hillary. So someone's lying or wrong. Your perspectives can't coexist.
As for hacking the RNC...idk it doesn't mean they're against the RNC, that is even if that's true. Julian Assange had Russian ties too right? WikiLeaks already hacked the DNC. Maybe Russians just wanted the most information available to them that was possible. |

If Trump is 'their candidate,' why did Russian bots buy Clinton ad space, and why did they attempt to hack the RNC? russia seems to care less about who is president and more about weakening the country. if buying clinton ad space allows them to egg on the chaos, why not? as far as hacking the RNC, that is just good intel. why pass up the opportunity to blackmail? |

What!? Some liberals on CE told me Trump and Putin were good friends--how can this be?
Let's guess the rationalization: A) too late B) Putin told him to in order to throw off heat C) Putin understand it has to be done D) Trump didn't want to sanction but was forced!

Because it doesn't answer anything, unless you're conceding the idea that they did this explicitly to get Trump elected. not every person who believes there is a russia / trump connection also believes that trump and putin are best friends and the idea has always pretty much been that putin wanted "anyone but hillary" |

0AbsoluteZero0 posted...prince_leo posted...show hidden quote(s) I think that their main objective was to sow chaos and create distrust in the American democratic system. They played both sides with things designed to rile people up, and being able to selectively leak items discovered in hacks of the DNC and RNC would help them further these goals. While it’s obvious Trump was their preferred candidate, I don’t think he was their number one objective.

BlueJester007 posted...Hey. I just noticed that my keyboard has a bunch a dust around the Home Key. Wait wait. Control our elections? So there's cohesive proof that we didn't just have a bot network making fucking facebook posts, but actually interfering with electoral equipment? Because propaganda isn't interference guys. Plus no one in this country is allowed to say one word about electoral influence in this country with what we've done with others lol.

so i read the article and am still wondering, will any of these sanctions have any form of economic impact? at first glance it seems like none of them were aimed at the economy of russia.

Ignoring the fact that I don’t agree with what we do, that logic is incredibly flawed. I can’t be upset that another super power (who likely hopes to weaken us) is taking advantage of us? Please..it’s just weird to me how the same crowd who tells others to get out of the country for merely criticizing America and saying it may not be perfect are totally ok with other nations doing things like this to us.

I just made a topic about psychological tricks of persuasion. The guy mentions a study in which someone is given a catalog to shop for furniture. One catalog had furniture sitting on some clouds and the other had coins in the background pic. Those who saw the coins were primed to be more conscious of cost and thus spent less money. People who saw the clouds bought the softer or more comfortable furniture.
So yeah...I really do think meddling in ways that aren't directly hacking voter machines obviously have an impact. Just because the impact isn't as quantifiable doesn't disqualify it of condemnation. |
