Well I mean the government can use the law to take your land and pay you later if it's a serious concern to get some project done earlier rather than later.
So if the government does this, you don't go around saying "well what happened to the government paying me for the land they seized?!!" Just because the pay comes later doesn't mean you're not getting paid. This is, of course, excluding the huge case along the border which is completely irrelevant but doesn't seem that way because your topic contains the word "border". The point still stands. Mexico could pay for it directly later. But also, you know, as I covered before, paying for something and paying for something can mean two completely different things. One way or another, everyone pays for everything -- a concept not lost on anyone who sincerely thinks for a moment. We all come into a world built mostly by dead people and every genius stands on the shoulders of giants before them. Etc. No dollar made was earned fairly. Etc.
Most capitalists don't know that you can't become rich without doing the opposite of Jesus Christ's golden rule. Maybe that's why rich folk don't go to heaven.

You could argue that Mexico pays for the wall by having to house potential illegal immigrants from escaping, causing them to need to supply those people with better lives and/or handle their criminal situations and/or build their own southern border wall to prevent people from other countries migrating through Mexico -- all costs to the Mexican people just so that the U.S. can afford the wall themselves.
It's all a joke and money isn't real anyway.

I'm not changing the subject though. The only way that Trump lied is because he's a dumbass. That's the only argument you could make as to the fact that he lied. He lied because he didn't understand all the ways that Mexico could end up paying for the wall indirectly due to him being a dumbass and therefore he lied.
It's stupid. Making a big deal out of it is stupid. Instead of focusing on the "lie" you should focus on arguments for/against the wall.

Our one hope is that everyone but Trump realizes a wall along the border is a stupid idea (heck, even Trump may just be keeping appearances), a waste of money, and ultimately would never work. I don't think that Trump lied. I think that he genuinely believed that he could force Mexico to pay for it, because he's a narcissistic dumbass. He insisted that Mexico would pay for the wall for a month after inaguration. At the same time, Ryan and everyone else said that the US taxpayer was going to pay for it, because, *surprise surprise*, they actually know what they are doing/talking about.
Trump also said during his campaign that he would "open up the libel laws to make it easier to sue" You'll note that he dropped that rhetoric not long after inaguration. Finally, he repeatedly promised to place tariffs on China. I am absolutely certain that he was sincere about this. However, he changed his mind after China kissed his ass (China has extensive experience in dealing with narcissistic assholes)

I thought that the land along the border was already set aside by the federal government, like a right of way. Either way, the border is federally controlled. If these clowns plop a building down on the border, put that wall right through the middle of it. I don't think the government would even have to resort to Eminent Domain. An international border and a certain amount of land on either side is already, by law, considered a federal right of way and they can pretty much do anything they want without as much as even giving the property owner notice.

I'm not sure what you think you're talking about, but Mexico is under no obligation whatsoever to fund an American project. Ever. People were saying that Trump would increase the tariff on them, which would be an indirect way of them paying for the wall, but Mexico could never be forced to directly pay for an American vanity project. That would just be dumb.
